Text QR Codes

A great way to use QR codes is with plain text, whether it’s a simple message to share, the answers to a quiz or exam, or clues for a treasure hunt, QRStuff.com has all of your text QR code needs covered with our “Plain Text” data type – and ours are FREE and don’t expire.

Businesses can also make use of text QR codes to store and display stock codes or serial numbers for inventory and asset management, coupon codes, customer information like terms and conditions or nutrition and ingredients data, and so much more.

How To Make Text QR Codes

  1. Go to www.qrstuff.com and select the “Plain Text” data type from column 1. Plain Text QR codes are one of 23 data types available to free users, however if you become a paid subscriber you will also have access to our new Attendance Tracking QR codes, as well as QR codes for PDF documents and image files.
  2. In column 2 enter the text you would like displayed when your QR code is scanned.
  3. You can also choose to create a “static” or “dynamic” QR code. Dynamic QR codes offer paid subscribers QR code editing, analytics, password protection and a host of other management features. More information about dynamic vs static QR codes can be found here.
  4. Choose your QR code image foreground colour in column 3. If you are a paid subscriber you will also be able to specify the image size, resolution (up to 600 DPI), the output file type (PNG, JPG, TIF, EPS, SVG, PDF, and DXF), and the error correction level for your completed QR code image. This video will give you more information about the extended image output options available to paid subscriber.
  5. You’re done! Just click on the “Download QR Code” button below the QR code preview image to save your finished text QR code.

QR Codes For Text
Our Text QR Codes Are Better

We’ve added a few features to our plain text QR codes that make them more useful, reliable, and flexible than the ones you might get from other second-tier QR code creation services:

  1. Our text QR codes can contain up to 1,000 characters of text.
  2. All of our QR codes offer full UTF-8 support allowing for the input and display of all special symbols and characters used in European, Asian and Middle Eastern languages.
  3. Any website addresses beginning with http:// or https://, and correctly formed email addresses, you use in our plain text QR codes will be displayed as clickable links when scanned.
  4. If multi-line text (with line breaks and/or paragraph breaks) is copied and pasted into the input box in column 2, we will retain the line breaks and/or paragraph breaks when the QR code is created, so that they appear when the QR code is scanned.
  5. Our text QR codes are guaranteed 100% ad-free. Actually all of our QR codes are ad-free – if you see an ad after scanning one of our QR codes, the scanning app that you’re using put it there.
  6. Did we mention that our text QR codes are FREE and don’t expire?

Print A Sheet Of Labels

Creating sheets of QR code labels is another free standard feature at QRStuff.

Instead of clicking the “Download QR Code” button below the QR code preview image, move down the page to the “Output Type” and choose “Print”.

You will then be taken to a page where you will choose from a selection of common Avery label template layouts in either Letter or A4 size. If you are using generic labels then the Avery code that your labels are compatible with should be shown on your box or packet of label sheets. The sticker label layouts shown will print correctly on label sheets based on that Avery product code.

Once you’ve selected the label template you need, click “Download” to generate a preformatted printable PDF file containing multiple copies of your QR code sized and arranged to print onto the label sheet you chose above. The label template PDF can also be printed on single sheets of plain or adhesive paper, transparency film, or even iron-on transfer paper.
